He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and earned his Ph.D. in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) in Spain.
He has been a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes since 1994, teaching courses in the areas of dynamics, mechanisms, and robotics. He has published academic work on these subjects, including the book titled Mechanical Dynamics (Dinámica Mecánica).
He has led accreditation processes before the CNA and ABET for various engineering programs and has served as a peer reviewer and consultant for accreditation processes at universities in Colombia and Ecuador. He is currently the Academic Vice Dean of the School of Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes.
He is also currently part of the prestigious ICACIT International Evaluators Staff.
She holds a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Biotechnology, a Master’s in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from the Stanford University Graduate School of Education, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences (Computer Science area) from PUC-Chile. Her work and research focus on developing processes for continuous curricular improvement in higher education in Latin America, using analytical tools centered on the needs of administrators, faculty, and students.
She is an Assistant Professor on the Special Faculty Track and Deputy Director of Assessment, Evaluation, and Quality at the School of Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC-Chile), and an Associate Researcher at the Millennium Nucleus for Higher Education.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida.
He has served as Director of Evaluation and Accreditation of University Higher Education at Sineace. He is currently the Director of Academic Innovation in the Department of Engineering, Section Coordinator and Program Director of Industrial Engineering, and Full Professor in the Department of Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He is also the General Coordinator for Accreditation and Continuous Improvement of the School of Science and Engineering, leading the accreditation of its programs with CEAB (Canada), ABET (USA), and ICACIT (Peru).
He has experience as a consultant in quality management, statistical process control, data mining, simulation, and optimization. He has served as an evaluator for the National Quality Award.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Piura (UDEP) and earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, Spain, with a dissertation on competency-based educational models in engineering. Throughout his academic career, he has taught courses in operations, productivity, maintenance, and calculus, both at UDEP and at the Peruvian Naval School.
He has held various academic and administrative positions, including Academic Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Director of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Director of Basic Sciences. He also served as Regional Director of Education in Piura and Tumbes. His research work includes publications in indexed journals and international presentations on engineering education, professional competencies, and project management.
He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UDEP, where he has been a Full Professor since 1989. He also serves as a senior evaluator and Chair of the Engineering Committee at ICACIT, participating in accreditation processes for STEM programs in Peru and abroad. Recognized for his dedication to teaching, institutional leadership, and commitment to educational improvement, he stands out for his practical yet idealistic vision in both professional and personal spheres.
Rubby Casallas es ingeniera de sistemas y computación, especialista en Sistemas de Información en la Organización de la Universidad de los Andes y doctora en Informática de la Universidad Joseph Fourier – Grenoble I (Francia), en el área de ingeniería de software. En 2010 fue profesora titular y primera mujer en ocupar el cargo de vicedecana de Posgrados e Investigación. Fue, además, coordinadora de la Especialización en Construcción de Software que en 2019 se convirtió en la Maestría en Ingeniería de Software (primera completamente virtual de la Universidad) ofrecida a través de la plataforma Coursera. Sus investigaciones se han centrado en la ingeniería de software, especialmente en el aumento de la productividad de los grupos de desarrolladores en las organizaciones, manteniendo estándares de alta calidad.
Desde 2020 es la decana de la Facultad de Ingeniería. Su nombramiento como primera mujer en liderar la facultad mas grande de la Universidad de los Andes es un hito en 73 años de historia institucional.
